Matson, whose real name is Mathilde Sonney, is a singer-songwriter, composer, performer, and violinist from Fribourg. Trained in classical violin from a very young age, she began her professional career with the band Elferya, performing on major stages in Switzerland and internationally, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Z7, and Underworld Camden in
London.
She then continued her musical journey with the band Borderline, with whom she traveled across the United States along the legendary Blues Route, performing on Beale Street in Memphis and at the B.B. King Club in Indianola. These experiences shaped a strong artistic identity, deeply influenced by travel and live performance.
Under the name Matson, she now develops a sensitive and cinematic folk universe, with the violin at its core. In 2025, she released the singles Rocky Mountain and Colorado Skies, inspired by the vast American landscapes and the sense of freedom they evoke.
Currently, Matson is preparing a new album and structuring an international-scale project for 2026–2027, combining artistic creation, live performance, and brand collaborations, with an authentic and sustainable approach.
